Discreetly Keep Your Teeth Clean While Still Working

Discreetly Keep Your Teeth Clean While Still WorkingWhen you are at work, it might be hard to brush your teeth. However, you can still take measures to keep your teeth and gums clean while you work at your desk.

What You Can Do to Clean Your Teeth Without Notice

The first thing you want to do is pack a toothbrush or keep an extra toothbrush handy. Brush when there is a lull in the workday, and you can do so without much notice. According to the Academy of General Dentistry, keeping a toothbrush at work increases your chances of brushing by 65%. So, it is always good to keep one on hand and use it when you can. If you cannot brush with your toothbrush, you can always use teeth wipes as an alternative. Teeth wipes are available in an on-the-go package and do not require water or rinsing. Some of the tooth tissues are designed for children, but you can still use them. They fit over the finger so that you can clean your teeth easily.

Chewing Sugarless Gum

Chewing sugarless gum about 30 minutes after your drink or eat is also an excellent way to clean and protect your gums and teeth. Not only does the gum freshen the breath, but it also causes the mouth to produce extra saliva, which rinses the mouth naturally. Chewing gum also neutralizes mouth acids that can wear down the dental enamel, causing unwanted erosion and decay. When you have a healthier saliva flow, you also have more calcium and phosphate in the mouth, strengthening the teeth. Chew the gum for about 20 minutes to clean your teeth and increase the saliva flow.

Drink Plenty of Water

Keep your mouth hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. Drinking water keeps you hydrated and flushes away food debris and plaque. It also replaces more acidic or sugary drinks, which can cause plaque, tartar, and cavities.

Keeping your breath fresh and clean can be done at work. The above tips should help create a healthier environment for your mouth and reduce your chances of getting cavities and gum disease. You can also reap benefits by having your teeth professionally cleaned. Call us today for an appointment for a cleaning and exam.
