When Does a Dental Chip Require Treatment?

Most people inspect their smile while brushing their teeth. Usually everything looks fine on the other side of the mirror, but what do you do if you notice your tooth has a chip on it? Should your chipped tooth be fixed right away?

A chipped tooth is quite common. In some instances, a dental chip does not require treatment. Chances are, if you did not even notice you have a chipped tooth, you will not need treatment. However, one chip on your tooth can contribute to new chips in the future. For that reason, it is a good idea to get the tooth checked out to see the extent of the dental chip. If your dental chip is large and a significant amount of the tooth is chipped off, we will need to fix that right away as the risk of infection climbs higher as more of the tooth is missing.
